Speedo College student Was Very Naughty!
Scandalous…but hot, non-etheless. A senior at the University of Hawaii may be the subject matter of some controversy and perhaps disciplinary actions after taking nude videos and photos of himself stripping down and, well, jerking off in various places throughout campus. These video clips he then uploaded to YouTube, and the photos onto his blog page, Hawaii Speedo Student.
I’ve nothing wrong with exhibitionism since it certainly could be thrilling. But, because of this guy to think he’s not going to get in trouble for jerking off all over campus and promoting it on-line, he’s a little naive. And, even moreso, to say that it’s discrimination for him to maintain trouble for this, I think he’s got a little more growing up to do. I mean, good for you for taking dangers and such, but significantly, the desk you released yourself onto can be someone’s desk. They didn’t state you could do this. It’s pretty disrespectful, no? So, it urks me that he’s claiming that is an equality issue and that his site assists promote equality. Sorry dude, you’re hot and everything, but there’s no connection there. You’re permitted to be gay. You’re allowed to be into exhibitionism, but if you are carrying out in a place where one can get in trouble, you need to face the consequences when you do, rather than make it a human rights issue.
Here’s what Speedo Student posted on his weblog in that regard…
As much as I love showing off on here, this weblog has in fact developed an equally important second purpose. That isn’t exactly to marketing campaign against homophobia or even to support gay privileges. One weblog can’t do much in that direction anyway. No, more precisely, the blog and its visual contents are my method of speaking out about the place of pornography within the gay community and society as a whole, by which makes it more personally relevant. It had been a shock to me the 1st time I ran into noticeable opposition to it from additional gay men. I had assumed that since they themselves were likely to be the targets of discrimination or intolerance due to their sexual identity, they might become more accepting of different behaviors actually if they didn’t choose to participate themselves. I’ve since discovered that I was very incorrect. In spite of the actual fact that almost all of these do look or have looked at porn, and that the gay community lacks very much in the way of its celebrities or identifying figures apart from pornstars, they don’t appear to be willing to have those connected with porn anywhere near them. I’m definately not being the first gay man I’ve heard about who has suffered from this form of discrimination. From all appearances, instead of being genuinely willing to think beyond your box, gays simply encase themselves in a different container. The walls remain up, the biases remain set up. Only the minor details have changed.
Personally, I find this attitude hurtful and disappointing. On a more substantial, impersonal scale, it’s actually very damaging to the cause of gay rights. Here in Hawaii there is particular reason to be worried with this aspect of the question, because the legislature recently shelved the bill that could have allowed civil unions right here. If disliking A’s behavior is normally sufficient reason for B to condemn him, then your gay rights movement has no footing at all, since such an attitude accepts that personal prejudice is usually a valid surface for legal discrimination. That’s not the tolerance and acceptance that the LGBT community is so fond of referring to.
