5 Steps to Improving Your Self-Esteem as an Introvert Gay

Oh the pressure that the gay community imposes on us gays! Not only do we have to worry about having perfect bodies in order to “fit in”, but what about all the introvert gay people? Yes, this can sometimes seem as too much, but don’t worry, you still matter and it’s very important that you know that. If you’re an introvert, you probably want to do as much as you can to improve your self-esteem, and that’s why we’re here. How can you achieve this? What are the things that matter? How can you be one of the squad? Take a look at these five tips that will certainly help you achieve just that.

Always love yourself

First and foremost, you need to love yourself. This probably seems easier said than done, but let me tell you a secret. Since I also had problems with my self-esteem back in the day, there was one thing that I have been doing that really helped me tremendously. Every night before going to bed, try to write down all the things that you are proud of – this could be some of the qualities you showed during the day, or simply things that differentiate you from the crowd. Remember that being unique and different, even in the uniqueness and difference of gay people, is not a bad thing. It’s actually something that tells you who you are, and there’s nothing to be ashamed of. Always focus on the positive things, never the negative.

Work on yourself

You will not improve your self-esteem if you don’t work on yourself. First of all, try to see what that thing that needs improving is. Is it your figure? Then make sure to sign up for certain sports classes, work out every time you can or simply buy yourself a gym membership. Is it the way you speak? In this case, there are plenty of exercises that you can do in order to improve this. Finally, if you think you’re not smart enough, you can always read more books and thus work on yourself. It’s also very important to realize that you’re not improving yourself for other people, but actually for yourself.

Dress to impress

You wouldn’t believe how much fashion can improve your self-esteem. Wearing things that you love and that you look good in is extremely important. If you’re scared to follow the latest fashion then imagine that I just slapped you. How dare you be scared of that? If you want to wear something, feel free to do it. Wearing good underwear can furthermore enhance your self-esteem, so make sure to get your pair of men’s sexy underwear in order to feel quite sexy and confident. The moment I started not paying attention to what other people were saying, I realized that my inability to enjoy fashion was the result of my own problems.

Surround yourself with good people

It’s always important to have only good people by your side, especially if you’re introvert and insecure. Remember that you don’t need people who don’t want to give you compliments or who you can’t be yourself around. Learn from my own experience – try to see who your real friends are. This is important especially if you’re still in high school or going to college. Some of the friendships that you have now are quite toxic and can definitely affect your self-esteem. If you feel insecure around certain people, that’s a good enough reason for you to stop hanging around with them. You have only one life, and it’s crucial that you feel good during every single second of it.

Use social media

Social media is an excellent tool for all the introverts who still want to have a social life. And this is good, but pay attention to how much social media you’re using, and what for. You can use various social media websites to try and find people who are just like you, and to them about it. It might be quite difficult to voice your own problems to a family member or a friend, especially if you’re bad with words or you’re insecure to tell them. Having somebody who will understand is definitely quite important.

 

Yes, I’ve been there. Hell, we’re all been there at one point in our lives. The percentage of people who never felt insecure or had low self-esteem is very low. This means that you can go through this. Believe in yourself. Love yourself and do whatever you can to make yourself happy, as you are the center of your own universe.
