How to Make Your Gay Wedding Unique

Share

Now that all 50 states of America recognized gay weddings and made them legal, it’s time for all of us to start planning our big days, regardless of the fact that we have a partner or not. It’s always better to have everything planned in advance, isn’t it? Anyhoo, if you have set the date for your wedding and you don’t know what to do with your wedding to make it unique and interesting, you’ve come to the right place. Remember that each wedding is different, and it’s your job to make this day memorable to, first of all you, and then to all the invitees. Take a look at some of the tips on how to create a perfectly interesting and unique gay wedding:

1. Make up your own rules

You don’t have to follow any rules that you don’t want to. Of course, you want a wedding of your own, and perhaps you grew up watching all those romantic comedies and movies, but not every wedding should be like in the movies. Another reason why you shouldn’t be hung up on traditions is the fact that your wedding is a same-sex one, which is definitely unique and different. Don’t think about which parent pays for the wedding, or if you have the same number of invitees. Simply try to go with the flow, and do things your own way. Make up your own rules as a couple and there you go.

2. Ditch the seating chart

Another way to make your wedding unique is by completely ditching the seating chart. Planning this chart can easily be one of the most stressful parts of planning your wedding, so why not forget everything about it? One of the ways you can do that is letting people choose their own table. Not only will you be free of trying to figure out which family members don’t get along, but it can also result in a much more fun wedding. It’s also an amazing way for all of your guests to meet and mingle around.

3. Drive around

After all, why not worry about your own wedding party and let your guests entertain themselves? If you invest time and money trying to plan out your wedding lunch, dinner or party to the smallest details, it means that you will be free to do whatever you want while your guests start drinking and entertaining themselves. You can always take an hour or two off after the wedding ceremony and simply drive around your city or nature with your loved one. You can hire one of many wedding cars in Sydney, Melbourne or other parts of Australia and the world, drive to a distant yet beautiful place and take your first photographs as a couple. Driving around right after your wedding ceremony is a great idea, especially because driving always matches well with being happy.

4. Have different stages

Speaking of your actual wedding party, there is a number of ways in which you can make it completely unique. First of all, you can organize several stages, or rooms, where your invitees can mingle and do different things. Having a table where people would play board games while drinking, or having a poker game is one of the ideas. This way, when the guests get tired of dancing and drinking, they have something else to do. If you have an option, you can also have a small karaoke stage where those who love to sing can show their singing skills (or not). Of course, all of this depends on the size of the venue that you choose, but rest assured that you don’t have to go with one band and a dance floor for everyone. Try to think outside of the box and let people choose the activity they will join in. Gay weddings should be about the freedom of choice after all!

To sum up, there are ways in which you can make your wedding interesting and unique. But this is the bottom line – you should enjoy your day and plan it according to your own wishes. It’s your day, so do the things that you want to do. Congratulations, have fun and good luck!
