Fighting for equality in marriage for all orientations hasn’t been an easy affair, plus there are still many nations left that are still a long distance away from even bringing it to a national vote. However it’s still wonderful to acknowledge the progress made thus far and the most recent occurrence of the legislation change in Australia brings it to the fore once again. The guys at Carvaka have put together this video which details all the occurrences of same sex marriage legislation all over the globe in a timeline format. Watch as it outlines the struggles that some of these nations have gone through as they waited for this monumental shift in society to happen. Enjoy!

Imaging telling something like that 20-30 years ago… we’ve come a long way and this progress is just tremendous! I hope other countries will join us and there will be no place for homophobia and bullying
Yes, of course! Homosexual couples deserve the same rights as staight ones do. Legalizing same-sex marriage was an awesome decision to make since it’s an individual right I’m pretty sure most people value. Now all consenting individuals who love and value each other can get wedded!
I have heard, that in Belgium same sex marriage also legalised. Is this true? Have you information about Belgium?
Hi mikoal,
Belgium followed suit in 2003 and granted equal rights to same-sex married couples.
Personally, I am opposed to same-sex relationships and I do not recognize same-sex marriage. I understand those people, those countries where they are negative about this. But, if such a phenomenon exists in the world, then, it seems to me, it is necessary to treat this with understanding and try to understand these people.
I’m still on the side of Christian marriage, where there is a woman and a man. But I can not judge people with a different worldview. It’s their choice and their life. I want people to be happy.
Previously, it was unimaginable, no one had the right to have their own opinion and live their lives, everything was within strict limits and strictly controlled. Now freedom is given to everyone.
I believe that this should be treated calmly. Sooner or later in many countries will allow same-sex marriage.
